Bio
I played high school basketball in Indiana and Ohio and was an all-state player his senior year in Dayton, OH at Meadowdale High School in 1989. After high school, I attended Gavilan Junior College in Gilroy, CA before transferring to Southern Arkansas University where I averaged 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists per game my sophomore and junior year.
Following my career after graduation, I played professionally 7 years and spent time in training camp with the Dallas Mavericks. I then went overseas and played in Kiev, Ukraine, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Lithuania, and Dominican Republic. Once statebound I played in the states in the IBL and ABA finishing my career in my hometown of Indianapolis, IN.
I have been a head coach in the NBA Summer League for 2 years in Long Beach, CA. In addition, I was a player scout for Texas Tycoons in Dallas, TX and assisted the team in other aspects within the organization. I also recently returned to the ABA as head coach for the new Dallas Jammers (formerly the Dallas Generals) in Dallas, TX. I am currently training kids of all ages in private sessions and groups, and assisting with the player development and coach for the West Texas Whirlwinds.
I know how to motivate and get the best out of my players and team. I bring enthusiasm to my players and will expect nothing less than their best.
Coaching Approach
I assess each player on an individual basis in order to get a better perspective of what skills need to be addressed for the player. I work on a variety of offensive and defensive skills. I aim to create a well-rounded player that understands all aspects of the game. I want my players to have a clear understanding of what they should be able to do in any scenario that may occur during a game.
For this reason, I work on coming off screens, spot up shooting, fast break shooting, rebounding, and dribbling, etc. I work to give my players the confidence they need to succeed in the game.
I try pull, what I call, "the dog" out of my players to make them aggressive. I expect my players to work hard and do what it takes to improve, and be ready to compete at a highly competetive level.
Success Stories
All kids I have worked with show improvement within 1-2 weeks, if they come consisitently. I have also had 2 players recruited to play professional overseas.
